Graeme Clark is a Baptist minister with over 20 years in pastoral
ministry, and 10 years as Chief Executive of Glasgow City Mission, working
with homeless men and women in the city. Graeme is also an accomplished
photographer. Graeme’s chosen photo for A Thousand Words was taken by Sebastião Salgado. Listen to what he has to say about it at 24 minutes in to our July podcast.
Salgado was born in 1944 in Brazil. He is a social documentary
photographer and photojournalist. He has travelled in over 120 countries
for his photographic projects. Most of these have appeared in press
publications and books, but touring exhibitions of his work have been
mounted throughout the world. He is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
The photo Graeme speaks about is from a book by Salgado entitled,
‘Workers’, and shows men working in the Serra Pelada goldmine in Brazil.
