small voice of the month – Chris Ashton
The volcano La Soufriere, on the island of St Vincent in the Caribbean, erupted in April 2021. The residents in the danger zone (around 20% of the island’s population) were evacuated in time thanks to careful monitoring and planning. But after the eruptions were done, St Vincent was left with a huge clean-up.
Margaret caught up with St Vincent resident Chris Ashton and Chris describes what it was like during the eruptions and evacuations and how the Methodist Church of which she is part, and other agencies, are helping in the recovery process. Listen at around 38’48 minutes in to October’s podcast.
