Media Review: The Day Shall Come
For our Media Review this month, we decided to turn to the new film by director, Chris Morris: The Day Shall Come. Morris cut his teeth on such ground-breaking Radio and TV satires as On The Hour, The Day Today, Brass Eye, and his previous film and directorial debut, Four Lions, was a so-called jihadi satire, which followed the fortunes of a group of home-grown terrorist jihadis from Sheffield. Nine years on from Four Lions, The Day Shall Come once again deals with terrorism – or rather with our perceptions, fears, and approaches to dealing with the very threat of terrorism. Sheffield has been swopped for Miami, and we follow the fortunes of Moses, the impoverished leader of a small religious commune called the Star of Six.
Listen to what the smallVOICE team made of The Day Shall Come at around 7’12 minutes in to the podcast.
