Moral Mixdown – Tragedy in the English Channel

Twenty-seven people drowned in the English Channel on 24 November 2021 – migrants who were attempting a crossing from France in an inflatable dinghy. It was the worst incident in the English Channel since data collection began in 2014. The 27 people are believed to come from a range of countries including Kurdish Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Ethiopia.

This tragedy is the worst, but not the first – what can we do to make it the last? The smallVOICE team considers some of the reporting of the tragedy, and the politics which hides the fact that these were people like us. Listen at around 46’35 minutes in to December’s podcast.
