Music Guest: Sally Simpson
It’s been great to have talented young fiddler Sally Simpson back to play live in the studios. You can hear her first tune (The Earl of Jura) at around 15’12 minutes into our November podcast and her second set of tunes (Knots & Crosses and The Prince’s Welcome to Inverness) at around 41 minutes.
Sally is now a final year fiddle student on the BA Scottish Music degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. After attending the Junior Academy at RCS for three years she spent a year at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music in the beautiful Highland village of Plockton, where she performed regularly at ceilidhs, concerts and functions. Sally also studied at Sweden’s Kungliga Musikhögskolan (The Royal College of Music) for a year, where she not only developed her love and knowledge of Scandinavian folk music, dance and culture, but also gained a lot of experience in the Old-time, Country, Bluegrass and Irish scenes that thrive in Stockholm.
