small voice of the month – Kate Granger

#hellomynameis

Our small voice of the month for August is Dr Kate Granger. ‘hellomynameis’ is a campaign for compassionate patient care based on Kate’s own experiences during hospital treatment. Kate noticed that many of the staff looking after her did not introduce themselves before delivering her care – a small and easy thing to do, but with devastating effects in terms of she felt. The campaign, which Kate started with her husband Chris, now has the backing of hundreds of thousands of NHS staff, 90 NHS organisations and has also been adopted in 100 countries.

Listen at 29’20 miniutes in to our August podcast to find out more.

Kate sadly died on 23rd July aged 34. She kept a blog of her thoughts about being a doctor and during her treatment for cancer which you can read here: https://drkategranger.wordpress.com/

‘small voice of the month’ is our celebration of people or organisations who have a small voice but make a big difference.
