small voice of the month – Refuweegee
This month the smallVOICE team celebrates a Glasgow-based initiative for our ‘small voice of the month‘ – Refuweegee is a community-led project set up to ensure that all refugees arriving in Glasgow are welcomed to the city in true Glaswegian style. Their motto is “We’re all fae somewhere” and they say, “Our aim is to provide every Refuweegee who arrives in the city with a community-built welcome pack. Each pack will contain three categories of items: essentials, Glasgow welcome and ‘letters from the locals’ and as a result of the final category, each pack will be completely individual.”
As regular listeners know, every month, we aim to highlight someone or something with a small voice but that makes a big difference. We think Refuweegee is a fantastic initiative doing important work and you can hear a more in our January podcast – listen at around 33’50 minutes in.
We are hoping to get a special interview with the founder of Refuweegee, so look out for that in the next wee while as a ‘podcast extra’. You can find out more about Refuweegee on their website.
