I especially enjoyed your second Moral Mixdown, which stirred memories of similar conversations I had Holly’s lifetime ago. As I listened I had a couple of thoughts….

If the money spent on space exploration could be better employed (an argument I have made more than once) then also, say F1 or climbing Everest or even things I have done.

Then there’s that Jesus bloke who said there would always be poor people when a woman poured a whole jar of perfume over his feet.

Hmmmm.

Lots more thoughts in my head but this is fourth attempt at a comment from my wobbly smartphone!

  Darren here – thanks as ever, Catriona! Aye, the money for science/tech is an interesting one, so hard to unpick. And these days of course we can throw into the mix the problem of getting people to accept the basic findings of science, when they have had enough of “experts”…

Lots of great stuff in here as always! But just want to thank Darren for putting me onto Strong Songs. Love it! I just listened to the one with The Simpsons theme tune plus Let It Go and Single Ladies. Such expertise, plus the very smiling-sounding voice are a great blend, much like y’all at Small Voice!

  Darren here – Roz, you are most welcome! I have to say, as a teacher, it’s great listening to someone so good at communicating enthusiasm as Kirk. I can’t think of many single-person podcasts that are anywhere near as good.

Rick seems has access to to the individual tracks froma song so can point out the details more easily.

The other podcast I have been listening to assiduously in this moon landing anniversary season is from the BBC World Service – ‘Thirteen minutes to the moon’.

Using audio recordings and interviews this podcast gives an in depth understanding of the drama, triumphs and challenges of the Apollo project. Well worth a listen, for nothing else but to remind yourself that the pictures are better on the radio.
