smallVOICE podcast – December 2016

It’s our special Christmas podcast! It’s only JUST turned December but whoever heard of a special ‘Advent’ edition of anything? In this unashamedly festive edition of the show, the team recommends their Christmas favourites in the Media Review, our guest for our A Thousand Words feature is new pioneer minister for the visual arts, Peter Gardner; Margaret introduces our ‘small voice of the month’ and the Moral Mixdown discussion topically considers ethical Christmas presents. Plus live music, chat and banter from our friends Alec Shuttleworth, Robin Hill and Bill Wishart who share some festive carols. There may even be wassailing.

I recall one Christmas my Mum saying she didn’t want another *R^%!* goat, so you are not alone 🙂

Loved the music – both the carol/songs (both familiar to me, beautifully delivered) and the recording.

Just for Anne, I can take your calculator and raise you (a) a mop and (b) a packet of paper serviettes and (c) a packet of coffee three years past its sell buy date!

(a) bought by a colleague for his wife and kept at work jus tin case she discovered it before the big day

(b) given to me by a dear older lady in a past church

(c) given to me by one of my oldest friends!!

Thank you all for another year of laughter, thoughtfulness, honesty, wrestling and reminding. Looking forward to what 2017 brings

Glad to hear Darren get something off his chest!

His music choice for Charistmas is sublime – it’s been on Spotify since I heard it. Track 3 – the Monteverdi SeNel Partir da Voi is particulary good.

My favourite Christmas film, Love Actually. There are some really touching moments in it and Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson are wonderful.

Thanks Kennedy, glad you liked the music. I have a playlist called “crimbo jazz” on Spotify (user is dazmck) which as some chilled classical stuff as well as the usual festive cool choons. Let me know if you can find it!
