Our ‘small voice of the month’ of the month celebrates a fresh approach to dealing with disability in the form of We Carry Kevan, and in our Media Review we take a look at Ali Smith’s Man Booker-nominated novel Autumn – supposedly the first ever post-Brexit novel. Finally, our Moral Mixdown discussion responds to recent events in the US by asking what we really might mean by ‘pure evil’.

The kitties and I spent a lovely hour listening and pondering, thank you. Looks like I may have a new novel series to read in the near future.

Just to give you a laugh on being in the wrong place… I was once booked to speak at a WWDP service, did all the work, had everything ready, the forgot all about it. Someone phoned me ten minutes before the service was due to start and I literally got changed, picked up my notes and trotted down the road just in the nick of time.😁

Sorry, Bruce, not going to do a review this time! 😉

No problem Catriona, it won’t be a monthly expectation. As often as you can though haha 😉
Enjoyed the book review. Hope and the bigger perspective, great things to have… So ‘Winter’ is next, a literary ‘Four seasons’ huh?
Look forward to check out the moral mixdown on pure evil, but will leave it for Halloween tomorrow – Trump masks must feature among costumes this year!

So yes, just caught the mixdown, and realise my last remark was a bit fatuous, the tragedy referred to was no longer fresh in my mind – unlike the clocks turning back, which was. Thanks for the enlightening discussion, particularly memorable point about being careful not to allow the soil or environment to develop that allows evil acts to be perpetrated…

Thanks as ever Bruce! Pleased you enjoyed the discussion. Moral Mixdowns aren’t easy to do, we’ve found, when events are raw and temperatures high, but we hope that calm discussion is a useful alternative to what is usually served up on the airwaves.
