This month we have music live in the studio from guest Jim Benton Evans, Anne speaks to Kirstin Freeman for our A Thousand Words feature, and our regular Moral Mixdown discussion tackles whether universites should make students uncomfortable – at what cost? And as if that wasn’t filling enough, in our Media Review we’ll be sticking our finger in the bowl and licking the spoon of Channel 4’s relaunch of The Great British Bake Off. WIll it be a taste sensation or a damp soggy bottom?

Thank you for a great blend of feel good fun and challenging thought.

Looks like Panda had a good birthday party!

The GBBO is, for me, a perfect example of Brits and change…we won’t like it, we won’t be part of it… oh, we like it after all.

University and, later, Vicar School, were for me the healthy blend of discomfit and affirmation, for which I am grateful, as they equipped me for the joys and challenges of life and ministry.

Thank you again 😊 here’s to the next four years!

  Hi Catriona – yes, I’m almost embarrassed at my “the world’s ending” response when the news broke that GBBO was moving channel. But I do still harbour a bit of annoyance at the way these things work – after all, the Beeb were brave enough to run with the initial idea, yet in the end it’s the money that talks. If Strictly or Doctor Who ever move channel, you’ll see me on the barricades!

Thanks as always for the mention, including the hair, and yes I’ll continue reading Catriona’s ‘review’ to get a flavour!
Now, I’ve never seen more than a few minutes of Bake Off and am not about to change that, but nice comments about it in the context of a troubled world. My main connection with GBBO is I had lunch with first winner Ed Kimber (2010) and his family in 2009 before it was even thought of, as he’s brother of my first Bradford flatmate…
Namedropping aside, I’ll try and dip back in again soon!
