sv podcast – Amplifying Voices
We’re delighted to find out about another ‘small voice’ that is making a big difference … Amplifying Voices is an organisation based in Worthing in the south of England and it’s 10 years old this year. Their mission is to train communities to use the tool of media to create better futures, with an emphasis on helping them find their own voice and transform themselves. The 10th birthday celebration also marked the new status of Amplifying Voices as a registered charity in Scotland. Our roving reporter, Margaret, took her portable recording machine to Duns in the Scottish Borders to meet Amplifying Voices founders Jon Hargreaves and Alex Stout and also speak to Johnny Fisher who is the Scottish Associate.
You can find out about the Scottish event, and the projects the organisation is supporting, at amplifyingvoices.uk
The interviews were recorded at the end of May 2023. This podcast is available from Apple Podcasts , TuneIn Radio, and on your favourite podcast App. Duration: 23’45 minutes.
Theme music by Nicolai Heidlas.
Since 2013, we’ve been helping our partners in fragile contexts across the world to use the power of community-centred media to build peace through engaging people in conversation. Using radio and, in some communities, ‘speakerbox’ mp3 players, community-centred media aims to foster an environment of trust as community members, service providers and media work together to create content. This provides a strong foundation for other peace building activities.”
